The Seeds Carrying Music

Yula comes from the HiBy Y-series design philosophy: “Employing a single type of driver to maximize the expression of its tonal characteristics.” For a long time, earbuds constrained by wearability and size, a single driver struggled to deliver comprehensive sound performance across the entire frequency range. Consequently, some earbuds adopted a multi-driver hybrid design, allowing different drivers to handle different frequencies. However, achieving smooth tonal presentation and transitions remains no easy. Thus, in designing the HiBy Y series, we delved deeply into core technologies of dynamic drivers—including diaphragm materials, voice coils, magnetic cores, and damping—to maximize their smooth, natural sound. Thus, we employ lightweight yet flexible carbon fiber material for the dome. This allows the Yula to deliver powerful bass and clear vocal details within a compact form, while maintaining comfortable sense of being surrounded by music, which is the signature characteristic of dynamic drivers.

Design Background

In 2018, HiBy launched its first headphone product, Seeds, marking the beginning of its experiments to integrate high-end Hi-Fi speaker technology into affordable earphone designs.

In 2019, Seeds II further built upon its PEEK composite diaphragm dynamic driver by incorporating HDSS patented technology to eliminate uncontrolled standing waves within the acoustic chamber.

The former two generations of Seeds boldly blended and experimented, planting HiBy's “make music more musical” tuning philosophy into users' hearts like seeds. After years, we've decided to relaunch this “Seed Project”—retaining the compact design of Seeds while continuing the challenge of “integrating high-end technology into accessible and affordable designs.” We've redesigned a new generation of seeds: the HiBy Yula.

Thin & Tough Carbon Fiber Composite Dome

The 10mm dynamic driver of HiBy Yula has thin and tough carbon fiber material for the dome of the dynamic driver. The enhanced compliance makes Yula easier to reproduce both surging bass performance and clear vocal details in a more compact size, while providing the comfortable sense of music playback which is a characteristic of dynamic drivers.

High Internal Consumption PEEK Diaphragm Devolved from High-end Technology.

To enhance the internal consumption of the diaphragm, reduce unwanted vibration of the driver, the diaphragm is also made of PEEK composite material, which is used in high-end headphone in the past, strengthening the rigidity of the diaphragm and reducing the split vibration at the same time.

Powerful Magnetic Dual Core Up To 1 Tesla

The specially designed Dual Magnetic Circuit Core delivers powerful magnetic flux up to 1 Tesla, enabling highly rigid diaphragm to be driven more efficiently.

High Tensile H.CCAW Coil

Lightweight H.CCAW coil provides over 150N/mm² of tensile strength, and 50% enhancement over regular CCAWs, allowing the earphones to be easier to drive while also providing excellent control.

To provide a special warm feeling to the sound, we have produced the front cavity cover of the speaker in copper.

Fine-tuned Ratio of Front and Rear Chambers for Balanced Soundstage Reproduction

For dynamic drivers, it is crucial to equalize the airflow to enhance the naturalness of the tone and even the soundstage. For this low-distortion composite speaker with a 10mm carbon fiber dome, we have finely tuned the air airflow to improve the dynamics of the speaker and the sense of ambience.

Lightweight Combination of Dual High-precision Processes

HiBy Yula combines high-precision 3D printing and CNC-crafted aluminum rear chambers, which on one hand contribute to its light wearing, and on the other hand provide cleaner acoustic feedback from the Chambers.

The seed shape originating from HiBy Seeds allows the rounded curves to fit the auricle, effectively improving sound isolation and wearing firmness.

Yula features a compact, lightweight design that strives to fit most users' auricles. The over-ear design not only allows the earphones to be worn steadily at all times, but also increases playability of the earphones by keeping the structure of the detachable cable.
